Naperville, masks for government buildings

After consulting with health authorities and reviewing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) latest masking guidance, the city government of Naperville will reinstate the use of face coverings for all visitors to government buildings which was set to begin Tuesday, Aug. 3. Participants in board and Commission meetings, as well as those who are using public meeting rooms, will be permitted to remove their face coverings once seated if they are vaccinated and maintain six feet of social distance from other participants.

In response to the rapidly spreading Delta variant, the CDC advised that those fully vaccinated wear masks in public indoor settings in areas of substantial, or high transmission. Substantial transmission is defined as 50 to 99 cases per 100,000 individuals over a seven-day period. High transmission is defined as 100 cases per 100,000 over a seven-day period. Community transmission levels can be viewed at: covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#county-view.August 2, DuPage and Will Counties were categorized as substantial transmission risks.

The Municipal Center is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and closed Saturdays and Sundays. Hours for City departments are as follows: Finance Department, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday. Community Services Department: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
