North Aurora Police Chief David Fisher, center, honors three North Aurora Police officers and an Illinois State Police master sergeant at the North Aurora Village Board meeting Monday.

The group was honored for their efforts of working together to pull Ed Poe out of the Fox River after he suffered a medical emergency and fell in approximately one-quarter mile north of the North Aurora Village Hall, May 27.

With a struggle in the muddy river bank, they retrieved Poe. He was unresponsive and taken to Mercy Medical Center in Aurora and never recovered.

Honored are, left to right, Officer Christopher Joswick, Officer Dave Parr, (Chief Fisher), Officer Mark Swoboda, and State Trooper Greg Minx.

The village government of North Aurora recently received an award from Government Finance Officers Association for Popular Annual Financial Reporting. The program recognizes individual governments that successfully produce high quality annual reports that are easily accessible.
