At the February 12 meeting, the Board voted against a proposal that would allow McVickers’ company to develop a parcel of land next to the Merlin 200,000 Miles Shop near the intersection of Route 30 and Orchard Road. The proposed development was for a new facility for Christian Brothers Automotive Corporation. McVickers’ company developed the Orchard Road Route 30 retail corridor starting in 2005. He said the Village will lose approximately $30,000 in tax revenue and Christian Brothers will not look for another site in Montgomery and had interests in Orland Park. Village officials said they can reconsider the vote at a future meeting. • Montgomery resident Victoria Laxton expresses concern with a proposed Gas N Wash facility at the southeast corner of Gordon Road and U. S. Route 30 in Montgomery. She was one of half-a-dozen speakers, including approximately 40 in attendance. Laxton, whose house is the third from the corner said she is not opposed to a business at that location, but not a gas station in the residential area. The proposed 24-hour facility would offer a convenience store, car wash, including diesel fuel for semi trucks. The Village of Montgomery Plan Commission recently voted against the establishment. In the meeting of five hours Monday, the Village Board agreed with the Plan Commission’s denial.
