November is National Diabetes Awareness Month, an important month for the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley. One of the Club’s main goals is to bring about an awareness of diabetes, a life threatening disease.
The members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley want to remind everyone to be aware of the dangers of unchecked diabetes and to take time yearly, to be checked to see if they are diabetic or pre-diabetic.
The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley will kick off National Diabetes Awareness Month with a meet and greet event, Saturday, Nov. 4, beginning at 8:30 a.m., in downtown Aurora, at Society 57, 100 S. River Street.
Thursday, Nov. 9, a representative from the Kendall County Health Department will be a speaker at the Club’s monthly membership meeting, being held at the historic Gray’s Mill Estate, 211 N. River Street, in Montgomery. Social/dinner at 5:30 p.m., meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and guests are always welcome!
If you’re an ice hockey fan, you’ll enjoy attending the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley’s, “Make a Goal to Fight Diabetes”, Chicago Steel hockey game, at the Fox Valley Ice Arena, Kirk Road, in Geneva. The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, a true grassroots organization, where all money raised through dues, donations, and fundraising is used locally for the Club’s fight against diabetes.
Giving Tuesday, the annual celebration of generosity, will happen November 28. Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: A day that encourages people to do good. A day when the whole world comes together to give back in many different ways: Through acts of kindness, gifts of voice, time, talent, or treasure.
