Poem: One E. T. To Another

Since you are new here, thought I’d call to check you out—
To see how you are doing. You are just about
To witness and enjoy what they call Halloween,
And let me say it’s not like anything you’ve seen
Before. Too bad we had to have those changes made
Before we came here. But, a warning, do not trade
Your artifacts for any of their souvenirs.
If they would ever find out that those fancy ears
And spear-tipped tails were actually real, a part of who
You really are, you can’t imagine what they’d do,
Except to be assured the you-know-what would hit
The fan, and our home base would not like that a bit.
You’ll be surprised how some of their costumes look real—
They well may make you homesick—they’ll have that appeal.
I will not need feed-back on this, so have a blast.
We have a lot of work to do, but it will last.
