Organizing: Quick Tips and Cool Hacks offers hope

We welcome a now-standard late-onset Spring, and families and businesses across Aurora are embarking on the tradition of Spring cleaning, accompanied by a range of familiar responses and emotions. Although some may enjoy the opportunity to dig in and tidy up, others experience something like a Mai Tai composed of fear, denial, dread, and hope. Happily, hope is where we will start with Organizing: Quick Tips and Cool Hacks at the Aurora Public Library District (APLD)! Join us virtually at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 2 when we figure out how to clean up and organize our spaces whilst spending the least amount of time, money, and energy.

Jennifer Barnes

This program is presented by Jennifer Barnes, founder and CEO of JB Organizing, who began her career as a professional organizer and speaker more than 20 years ago. As a mother of five children, including a set of twins, she is keenly aware of the challenges to keeping an organized space, both at home and in the office. In fact, one of the guiding principles in her work is “real organizing for real people doing real life.” Sounds deceivingly simple, such as Real Simple, doesn’t it?

Fortunately, Jennifer encourages her clients and audience to stop the implicit labor of comparisons that many of us engage in as we look at the myriad of unrealistic magazines, TV shows, and Instagram profiles dedicated to dictating exactly how our homes and offices should look this Spring. Chances are, you do not have the time, interest, money, or secure attachment style to complete the type of organizing projects illustrating those pages. However, Jennifer will show us, you can use the five principles of organizing and the five Ts of communication to accomplish your organizing goals and maintain healthy relationships at the same time! Attendees to this program will leave with the confidence to organize anything, anywhere, with anyone.

Jennifer Barnes works one-on-one with clients as well as presenting to audiences across the country both virtually and in-person. “We are so excited to have the opportunity to listen to Jennifer Barnes at the Library, sharing her wisdom and experience with organizing and its challenges,” said Krista Danis, Eola Road Branch manager at APLD. “As a private consultant, her expertise is so valuable, and not necessarily affordable for many individuals and families to take advantage of, so the Library is happy to be offering this presentation.”

Organizing Quick Tips and Cool Hacks is offered through Zoom and is accessible online or by phone. Registration is required and available at www.aurorapubliclibrary.org/event/6219267.
