The Oswego High School football team came into this season with high expectations.

The Oswego Panthers were one of the best storylines from last season, advancing all the way to the State finals with upset wins over Maine South and Lockport.

After winning a Class 7A State title in 2003, the second in program history, the Panthers lost to Mount Carmel in the 8A State championship game in 2025. Reaching the playoffs is the standard for the Panthers.

Coming into the season, the Panthers welcomed back eight starters on offense and seven on defense, including most of their offensive line.

So far, the Panthers have not missed a beat this season.

At 6-1 and a 2-1 record in the Southwest Prairie West, the Panthers are on track toward another memorable playoff run. The Panthers play Minooka this Friday, riding a three-game winning streak after blowout victories over Plainfield South, Yorkville, and Joliet West.

Oswego posted a marquee 44-42 win over Geneva to build some confidence at the start of the season.

Meanwhile, Oswego East (4-3, 0-3) is looking for its first win in the conference in Friday’s game against Yorkville (3-4, 0-3). The Wolves have some momentum following a blowout win over Romeoville helped take the sting from a 46-8 defeat to Bolingbrook. The Wolves opened the season with two straight wins.

Bolingbrook currently leads the conference after several impressive wins. The Raiders (6-1, 3-0) lost to Homewood-Flossmoor in their opener but won six games in a row, including a 21-7 triumph over Oswego in mid-September.
