The Valley of the Fox Sierra Club invites everyone to attend its program at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at the Batavia Library, 10 S. Batavia Avenue, Batavia.

Charlie Zine and Chuck Roberts, two Fox River advocates, recently completed an eight-day kayak paddle of the 223 miles of the Fox River from its humble beginnings in Colfax, Wis., to its dramatic conclusion at the confluence with the Illinois River in Ottawa.

Along the way they experienced its evolution when it passed through natural areas and woods, to golf courses and airports, from small towns to small cities. They witnessed the impact of 18 man-made dams, two beaver dams, and the restorative effects of three dam-removals. They camped mostly along the River and ate in riverfront bars, diners, and restaurants.  Click here to see a photo.
