Piron, Janca, earn track honors in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin

North Central College’s Peyton Piron and Nick Janca were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) men’s outdoor track and field Athletes of the Week Tuesday.

• Piron, a senior from Batavia and Batavia High School (actuarial science/finance major), won the 400-meter run at the Benedictine Relays Saturday. His time of 48.36 ranked first in the conference and tied for 10th on the NCAA Division III national list compiled by TFRRS.org. Piron was part of the winning 4×400-meter relay (3:17.88). The Cardinals won the 27-team event with 172 team points.

• Janca, a sophomore from Oswego and Oswego High School (health science major), won the high jump at the Benedictine Relays while helping the Cardinals to a first place finish Saturday. He finished with a height of 2.03 meters (6-8), which ranked second in the CCIW and tied for 12th on the Division III national list.
