• Knit and Crochet Group, Thursday, Sept. 13, 10 a.m. to noon.

This informal group works on its own projects, discusses types and colors of yarns, and helps each other with new or tricky patterns. Participants bring their own supplies.

• Writers’ Group, Thursday, Sept. 13, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m..

Writers can discuss their work in the Library Board Room. No registration is required; open to adults and high school students.

• Wednesday Night Book Group, Wednesday, Sept. 19, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m..

Readers can get together for an interesting discussion of “The Secrets of Mary Bowser” by Lois Leveen. The book for October, “Underground Railroad” by Colson Whitehead will be available at the check-out desk.

Kids events:

• Independent Storytime for 3s, 4s, & 5s, Mondays: September 10, 17, 24 and October 1, 10:30 a.m. to 11:10 a.m., or, 1 p.m. to 1:40 p.m..

For independent three to five year-olds, without an adult. It will feature simple stories, music, movement activities, and a simple craft. Parents must remain in the Kids’ Library during storytime. Call 630-552-2025 to register.

• Rhyme Time Wednesdays: September 12, 19, 26 and October 3, 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., or, 11:15 a.m. – 11:45 a.m., or, 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Thursdays: September 13, 20, 27, and October 4, 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m..

For babies to age three accompanied by an adult. This lap-sit storytime will feature action rhymes, finger plays, songs, movement activities, a simple story, and parent-child reading time. Call 630-552-2025 to register.
