Plano Library events include ESL classes

The Plano Community Library, 15 W. North Street, will be host to many events this month. For more information and to register, visit planolibrary.info or call 630-552-2009.

• Knit and Crochet Group, Thursdays, 10 a.m. to noon.

This informal group works on its own projects, discusses types and colors of yarns, and helps each other with new, or tricky patterns. Participants bring their own supplies. No registration is required.

• Writers Group, Thursday, Dec. 12, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m..

Writers can discuss their work. Open to adults and high school students. No registration is required.

• Free ESL (English as a Second Language) classes, Thursday, Dec. 12, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m..

Betty Ross will lead the informal group meets to develop and increase English language speaking and reading skills. Newcomers are welcome any time.

• New Life For Old Bags, Saturday, Dec. 14, 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Help turn plastic shopping bags into sleeping mats for the homeless. For more information contact Ceil Carey at jackandceil@att.net or 708-846-1704. No registration is required.

• Drop-In Job Search & Résumé Help, Thursday, Dec. 19, 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m..

An Illinois WorkNet representative will be available to answer job search questions and provide résumé assistance.

Kids events

• Pizza & Pages – Grades 6-8, Thursday, Dec. 12, 4:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m..

Everyone will read the same book before the meeting, talk about it, and have some pizza! Call 630-552-2025 to register.
