This informal group works on their own projects, discusses types and colors of yarns, and helps each other with new or tricky patterns. Participants bring their own supplies. No registration is required.
• Wednesday Night Book Group, Wednesday, Nov. 20, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m..
The book for November, Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor, will be discussed. The book for December will be a Christmas-themed book chosen individually by each member of the book group. This group reads a variety of genres. Newcomers are welcome at any time.
• Drop-In Job Search & Résumé Help, Thursday, Nov. 21, 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m..
An Illinois WorkNet representative will be available to answer job search questions and provide résumé assistance.
• Fines For Food – through November 30.
During the month of November, pay fines by making a donation (minimum $1.00) to the Plano Rockin’ Christmas program, which distributes food boxes to families in need. The funds will be used to purchase perishable food items such as meat, produce, milk, and butter.
Kids events
• Music & Movement, Tuesday, Nov. 19, 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 p.m. or 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m..
For children ages zero to five only, with a grown-up. Older siblings may wait in the Kids’ Library during the program. Call 630-552-2025 to register. There will be music and movement activities and kids can use simple musical instruments and play with a parachute.
• Sounds Fun, Thursday, Nov. 21, 4:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m..
Targeted to children ages three to six, with an adult. Call 630-552-2025 to register. Kids can explore letter sounds and handwriting in a fun, interactive, and multisensory way. We’ll have a variety of phonics stations for self-paced exploration.
• Legos at the Library, Monday, Nov. 25, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. or 6 p.m. to 7 p.m..
For all ages, children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult. No registration is required. Walk into a room full of Legos® and Duplos® and let your imagination guide you. Creations will be displayed in the Kids’ Library after the program.
• Visit With Santa, Friday, Dec. 6, 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m..
The Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to “Visit with Santa” at Plano Community Library as part of the Plano Rockin’ Christmas Festivities. We will pass out numbers to hold a place in line, but the wait may be long. Please be prepared to enjoy the library until it’s your turn to visit with Santa.
