Independent senior living isn’t just bingo and routine — it’s joy, connection, and moments that remind us that age is truly just a number. April 22, Plum Landing Retirement Community hosted its 3rd Annual Senior Prom, transforming its monthly Happy Hour into a tropical-themed celebration filled with color, music, and community spirit.

Residents arrived ready to dance the afternoon away as the décor transported everyone straight to the beach. A delicious buffet was served, the bar was open, and pianist Bob Kupler filled the room with melodies.

A highlight of the event was the crowning of this year’s prom royalty. Residents voted Jennie Colosi (age 102) and Tom Vondersaar (age 97) as the new queen and king. Former kings and queens returned to share in the excitement, adding to the sense of tradition and community pride.

Plum Landing was also joined by students from Rosary College Prep High School and officers from the Aurora Police Department, who danced, mingled, and helped make the afternoon unforgettable.

The event was coordinated by activity director Kathy Goheen.
