Rain, Oswego history, welcome; bridge closed

When the important celebration and recognition of Independence Day, July 4, is concluded each year, and following recovery, whether one day or one week, next on the horizon is back-to-school and last-gasp Summer activities. We enjoyed excellent weather for Independence Day. We received some welcome rain to put to an end to June drought. Rain is required, however, not in record measures which has been evident in some parts of the country.

  • Understanding Oswego history from how it derived its name to both white settlers and natives will be a part of Little White School Museum theme of Let’s Talk Oswego History at noon Saturday, July 15.
  • A wood bridge over the DuPage River, 70 feet long, which flows into the East Branch of the DuPage River, will close the week of July 31 for removal. The bridge should be closed through August. During construction a part of the DuPage River Trail will be closed. Naperville Park District has posted a detour map.
