Rallies: Back to school in District 204; silence and unity

Too often there is never enough space to include other important items. Succinctly, again, this week:

• Parents, students, and families of Indian Prairie School District 204 will gather at 2 p.m. Sunday at the District 204 offices, 780 Shoreline Drive in Aurora, for a rally for students to return to the classroom.

• There will be unity and silence for 30 minutes in Aurora from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. December 21 at participants’ site choice. It is a unity rally.

• St. Patrick parish, 406 Walnut Street in Yorkville will be host to a drive-thru donation and drop-off from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday in the Church parking lot with a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Clear and Concise, Week 49:

• Because the word transition is a noun, it should not be used as a verb; last week after writing the above clear and concise item, it was stunning to see transition in a television ad used as a verb.

• Invitation and not invite.

• Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy Hanukkah are all appropriate greetings. It is the love which accompanies, not the doctrine!
