Rauner, Pritzker, prevail; commissions lose

Voters, in light numbers, completed the Illinois primary election Tuesday for candidates and propositions. See selected listed results on page 7.
Incumbent governor Bruce Rauner won the Republican Party nomination, even though opponent Jeanne Ives won in DuPage, Kane, and Kendall Counties. JB Pritzker won the State Democratic Party nomination for governor and captured the most votes in both DuPage and Kane Counties.
Propositions to eliminate both the Aurora Election Commission and the DuPage County Election Commission and to consolidate functions with the respective county clerk were passed.
Voters approved a tax rate increase for the Aurora Township to serve seniors. An increase in a tax rate for the Fox Valley Park District was defeated. Many candidates won uncontested races. Mid-term elections will be Nov.6.
