By Christopher J. Lauzen,
Kane County Board chairman –
The following statement is true:
For the good of all people in Kane County, I support Democrats, Republicans, and independents; females and males; and all races and non-violent creeds. To secure my support, all you need is honesty, hard work, commonsense, and a constructive attitude.
This idea is not some kind of political agenda. It’s simply the necessary conduct to execute sound public policy on the Kane County Board.
However, if you attend 20% (two out of 10) important budget meetings in 2016, but collect 100% of your $25,000 pay and benefits (like Don Ishmael); I’m for the more conscientious candidate.
If you attend only 30% (three out of 10) of these important budget meetings, but take 100% of your pay (like Monica Silva); I’m for the other candidate.
And, if you skip 39% of all your assigned meetings for the past five years, i.e. skipped 35% in 2012, skipped 44%, in 2013, skipped 60% in 2014, skipped 28% in 2015, and skipped 30% in 2016, but collect $215,000 in pay and benefits (like Myrna Molina), then you owe the taxpayers an $86,000 refund and I oppose you for re-election.
But, when they do show up for meetings, they vote to raid $3,300,000 of County reserves. It’s my duty, and yours, to hold them accountable. Ishmael, Molina, and Silva voted to squander these funds, rather than cut the government spending by 3.64¢ out of every dollar.
You are being taxed out of your homes by irresponsible spending and property taxes. Ishmael, Molina, and Silva voted against the budget that froze County property taxes.
There are better candidates running who will attend all the meetings they should.
If you don’t vote to replace these three incumbents, none of us should expect government to improve.
