Being a contributor to the opinion section of The Voice, and an avid reader, I felt compelled to write. So many individuals, even The Voice opinion writers, have been deceived and are following untruth conspiracies and fear-mongering of the other. There is always of nugget of truth, but the whole premise is based on an ideology of untruths and vain imaginations.

The contributors such as Bill and Joan want to have conversations, but if we do not start from facts, there is no room for dialogue. Wayne, and even Charles, have perspectives different than mine, but we could have great dialogues because we are starting from the same set of facts.

My biggest disappointment is that the untruths and conspiracies are found in the church. It is difficult to talk to those lost in untruth when they claim God is behind it. The biggest promoters of it are Tucker Carlson and Donald Trump. They are manipulating you to fear and conspiracy. It is causing chaos in the Country this ideology claims to love. Hungary and Russia are not countries we should follow.

As one follows the ideology, vaccinations become evil, along with masks, Joe Biden is the boogey man, the election was stolen, the Country is ours and anyone not believing in the ideology is the enemy. We of different opinions based in fact must stand up strong against this ideology. Unfortunately, it is embedded in the Republican Party which has taken a turn from ideals to conspiracy. Not my father’s Republican Party.

A good resource to see how easily we can be given over to false controversies and vain imaginations is Winnie the Pooh and Piglet and how they scared each other to believe the heffalumps and woozles were after them.

Come to the table with facts and be able to admit you have been carried away as Pooh and Piglet were and have a conversation. Of course, it is an illustration and not equating anyone to the level and simplicity of Pooh and friends.
