Dignity is dead! We used to make an effort to use a level of civility with one another. We used research, built our case, made arguments, and bolstered arguments with facts. We attempted to educate, not malign. As an educator, I always discouraged students from rude behavior. Anger isn’t a productive method of influence. Hateful speech rarely changes minds. You just get more hate!
We live in a country divided partially because of the lack of courtesy we show one another. Wayne Johnson is an example of it. Hate is his preferred emotion of influence for every article he writes for The Voice. His is an example you shouldn’t follow.
Rude people, such as Wayne, love to vent. They lack cogent arguments, or they would make them. They substitute slander for substance. It’s easier to call some one a name than to prove others wrong. Ridiculing others is a cowardly way.. Don’t do it!
Use persuasive arguments instead. Make informative contributions to the world…not hateful ones. When disparaging remarks are all you have, you’ve wasted space, time, and opportunity to inform.
In the April 14 edition of The Voice) Wayne used the word stupid 26 times describing those he dislikes. Then he gave us the Merriam-Webster definition of the Woke. But nothing defines a group of people better than what they believe, say, or do.
I don’t have enough space to even begin explaining what the Woke believe. The following is a rudimentary list of some of the things the Woke think and believe. Enjoy!
First: They believe our intellect should be replaced by our will.
Reason is replaced by emotion, and morality replaced by relativism. To the Woke, “reality is a social construct.” Power equals truth. Translation: Similiar to children, the woke do what they feel, not what is right…morality doesn’t exist. So there is no right or wrong. We saw Wokeism in action during Summer 2020. Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis, Kenosha, St. Louis, were on fire after George Floyd’s death. Woke mayors and governors ordered police to stand down. As good Wokesters they did nothing to defend life, or property.
Second: The Woke say: Assimilationists are as bad as segregationists. Asking why do different groups have statistically different outcomes in society is racist. Translation: Harmony between people of different races is as bad as the intolerance separating them. Confused? I sure am! It is CRT. It is being taught to our children in our schools.
Third: If we believe all humans are equal, then differences among people only can be because of racism. The only reason for inequality is racism.Here’s another: Color blindness, ignoring skin color, is a problem and racist. Are you scratching your head, yet? Here’s another: Racism is solved through discrimination. MLK would vehemently disagree! And for laws to be effective, they must be discriminatory.
Fourth: A hodgepodge of woke beliefs: Men can become pregnant. Men can become women and women can become men. Women don’t lie. Wokism is self-evident and cannot be questioned. Questioning the Woke is racist.
