By Christopher J. Lauzen,
Kane County Board chairman –
Let’s say you’re the hiring manager for the Kane County Board, because that’s exactly what you are.

Four years ago, the good people of the Southeast Side of Aurora made an unintentional error by selecting Don Ishmael for County Board. He did not make a single constructive contribution to the Board during his time, dropped a couple of F-bombs during a meeting, was paid more than $104,000 in salary and benefits, and skipped a staggering 40% of his meetings.

If you multiply the taxpayer money he was paid, times the meetings he skipped, Mr. Ishmael owes his neighbors $40,000. Yet, Don Ishmael, whoshort-changed you for four expensive years, legally has manipulated the system once again to financially benefit his friends and further take advantage of you.

When voters in the March 2018 Primary elected Anita Lewis to replace him, Mr. Ishmael stopped coming to meetings, but continued to collect approximately $20,000 more in pay and benefits. It is truly stealing from taxpayers. Then he slated a person to run against Ms Lewis as a so-called independent in the November 6 General Election. It is a fact that her opponent never has voted in any federal, state, or local election, nor has she ever demonstrated any interest in county government.

Don Ishmael and his acquaintances should not be rewarded with another four-year job representing you.

Anita Lewis is honest, smart in a practical way, experienced, and committed to Aurora. She is a former East Aurora School District 131 Board member, volunteers both at her church and the Kane County jail, and has worked in manufacturing for 30 years at Pratt in Aurora.

I respectfully ask you to vote for Anita Lewis so she can work constructively with me and other Kane County Board members. Please don’t squander another four years of important County representation.
