Dear editor;
I’m writing to ask my neighbors to join me in supporting the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act (BAAJA), a bill that proposes to make our energy permitting process faster and more effective. The bill has support from both parties and aims to lower electricity costs while significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions, a vital element in addressing climate change. It could help the U.S. produce more energy domestically, strengthen the electric grid, and reduce vulnerabilities in our energy system.

A version of BAAJA was recently introduced in the Senate. Because the bill was negotiated and introduced on a bipartisan basis, it offers durable reforms that could continue delivering benefits even as political leadership changes. This is an opportunity to support both our children’s future and our household budgets.
I recently wrote to senators Tammy Duckworth and Dick Durbin, urging them to support this bill.
I encourage everyone to learn more about this legislation at cclusa.org/pr and join me in contacting our representatives.
