Dear editor;
Consumers with Illinois driver’s licenses need to know something I learned the hard way: If you renew your stickers through an E-mail notification you will simply receive the registration sheet with the sticker without further explanation. I received an odd-looking plain orange sticker bearing only the letter T. The sticker had no number and no month of expiration, it seemed not right and I wondered who received my sticker.
Because there is a typed paragraph to law enforcement with a phone number to call, obviously the police would want to know if the sticker is fraudulent and because I need repeated traffic stops at all hours of driving and in a hurry to get to work on time, I thought this is police business and Aurora police should be able to tell me what these stickers are about/for/why.
I was unable to get any answers by phone or from anyone at work. A North Aurora police officer simply told me he had received one just like it and put it on his car. “It has been okay. Trust me. It doesn’t just invite thieves. You are required by law to put this sticker on your vehicle,” he said. He did not tell me if it was to wait for new plates.
