I am reflecting in the events of the week. On one hand, we celebrated America’s 250th anniversary and on the other our community mourns the loss of three young children.

Our hearts remain with the families and loved ones affected by the tragic boating accident on Geneva Lake in Lake Geneva, Wis., where three children were killed in a weather related boating incident. During this difficult time, we all process tragedy in unique ways. I encourage individuals to visit Nami Illinois website for resources during difficult times. The holiday weekend also brought severe storms and flooding to many parts of our area. If you or someone you know has been impacted, please don’t hesitate to contact my office. We are happy to help connect you with available resources and assistance. Many municipalities are also providing information and support through their websites and emergency management departments.

I know for many, the weekend was an opportunity to celebrate with family, friends and neighbors. Whether you attended a parade, watched fireworks, hosted a backyard barbecue, or simply enjoyed a long holiday weekend, I hope it was a safe and memorable one.

I had the pleasure of participating in several Fourth of July parades throughout our community and was grateful for the opportunity to visit with so many residents. Seeing families lining our streets, children waving flags, and neighbors coming together is a wonderful reminder of what makes our communities so special. As our nation begins celebrating America’s 250th anniversary, these local traditions remind us that our history is reflected not only in our past, but also in the communities we continue to build together today.

As always, my office is here to assist you with State services, veterans’ benefits, programs for seniors and families, housing assistance, and any questions you may have. Please don’t hesitate to contact us at 630-585-1308.

We are always happy to help.
