Jennie Colosi turned 103 years June 6, and Plum Landing honored the milestone with a heartfelt celebration June 5. The Aurora Public Library surprised her with a gift basket and brought their mascot Rory to join the festivities, while guests enjoyed teacup bouquets with bookmark centerpieces—an ode to Jennie’s love of reading and her remarkable habit of logging every book she has read since 1992. A special slideshow was also prepared and shown, highlighting Jennie’s 13 years at Plum Landing, her steady participation in activities, and the joy she brings to everyone she meets.

Jennie was born June 6, 1923. She was the youngest in her family and went on to build a beautiful life with her late husband, John, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage. Together they raised two sons and created a large, loving family of grandchildren and great‑grandchildren. During World War II, Jennie worked at General Electric in Cleveland before becoming a talented seamstress known for her custom draperies. Her secret to longevity is simple and sincere: “Stay active.” For Jennie, that meant Saturday nights spent roller-skating and dancing with friends, and later, traveling—including three cherished trips to Hawaii.

Jennie has called Plum Landing home for 13 years, thriving in the independent senior living community. She is known for her warmth, her consistency, and her enthusiasm for daily life—you can always find her at morning exercises, greeting friends and staff with her signature smile. “Jennie loves living at Plum Landing. The friendships she has made there over the years are very special to her, and she considers everyone at Plum Landing part of her family.” Her peers crowned her Queen of Plum Landing at the April 22 Senior Prom, a fitting tribute to her grace, humor, and vibrant spirit.

As Jennie turned the page to 103, Plum Landing celebrates not just her years, but the way she fills them—with activity, connection, and a joy that continues to inspire the entire community.
