The Aurora Public Library District’s (APLD) Winter Reading Adventure is in full swing! This program provides fun challenges and encourages all ages to use the Library and attend programs. One upcoming program will be especially exciting for young audiences and fans of live theater. Roz Puppets will perform a live puppet theater show at two Aurora Library locations Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023. All ages are welcome for a whimsical retelling of a classic tale, set in the times of dragons and enchanted creatures!

Roz Puppets has been performing in the Midwest for 25 years. Based in northern Indiana, their puppets have entertained many audiences with a variety of stories and adventures. All their shows are performed live with only recorded music and sound effects, which will allow the puppeteer to cater each show to the specific audience for a personalized experience. Roz Puppets offers puppet shows for schools, libraries, businesses, festivals and special events and APLD is excited to have them back to perform for a second time at the Santori Library, 101 S. River Street and the Eola Road Branch.

For this appearance, attendees can expect a fun-filled hour as Roz Puppets tells the story of “George and the Dragon”. In this classic tale, George will face the terrible Dragon of Legend. But how fierce IS this dragon? Is he as bad as the tale would have us believe? Expect lots of audience participation as we learn that first impressions don’t always tell the whole fun and furry story. This is a unique chance for families to see live theater in-person at the Library. Senior manager of Children’s Services, Monica Boyer, is excited to provide this show for our customers.

“Children love puppets,” she said.! “And Roz Puppets has a great reputation for providing high quality shows with well-constructed puppets and sets. This show is a great, free Saturday activity.”

Interested families will have two opportunities to view “George and the Dragon” at APLD. Roz Puppets will be at the Santori Library Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. and then go to the Eola Road Branch at 2 p.m. for the second performance. The show is most appropriate for young children with their caregivers. Can’t make either the show? The Library has materials and resources for puppet lovers of all ages.
