Salvation Army of Aurora shares Angel Tree success and plans for new facility

Kiwanis coffee mugs were presented to Linnea and Rich Forney, center, Salvation Army of Aurora officers, after their presentation at the Kiwanis Club of Aurora meeting Tuesday at the Prisco Center in Aurora. Kiwanian Amy Roth, left, and Kiwanis president Kim Groom were the presenters. The presentation included the success of their Angel Tree program which provides gifts to children in need who would otherwise be without Christmas presents. In 2018, the program in Aurora helped more than 3,000 children. They purchased the former Moose Lodge on Redwood Drive in Aurora and had the building demolished this week. They are set to break ground June 10 and will build and open phase 1 of the new facility in a year. The current facility is at 437 E. Galena Boulevard on the City’s East Side. Jason Crane/The Voice
