Sarah White began a new role as executive director of the non-profit Senior Home Sharing in September 2023. Her goals for the organization include finding donors who can help expand Senior Home Sharing’s (SHS) affordable housing and counseling services.
White first discovered SHS while searching for housing options for her father, who then became an SHS resident for several years.
SHS currently aims to acquire a third house to better serve the growing population of seniors in DuPage County. “Almost every day I get a phone call from someone asking about openings,” White said.
The organization is also working on expanding its newest service, in-home counseling at little to no cost for seniors across DuPage County.
SHS is a non-profit organization offering housing to DuPage seniors who are ineligible for government assistance but cannot afford average rent or senior living home costs. The organization currently houses 15 residents across two family-style houses in Naperville and Lombard who receive home-cooked meals and a sense of community.
