The Sierra Club Valley of the Fox will host its monthly program on Data Centers, at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 18, at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S Batavia Ave., Batavia, and on Zoom.

Are data centers an asset to our communities or a threat? What can local municipalities do to ensure this growth in data centers will not come at a high cost to our residents? We know data centers use huge amounts of electricity and water, and that our electric bills are already going up. What can we do to protect these precious resources?

We are thrilled to announce that Alison Lindburg, director of Sustainability for the City of Aurora, Illinois, will be our speaker for our May 18 program. Alison was a leader in the successful creation of Aurora’s new, first-of-its-kind set of regulations intended to safeguard residents and the environment from future data center development. Ms. Lindburg said, “These new regulations are the result of months of work from City staff, who conducted extensive research and engaged the public to gather feedback on the future of data center development in Aurora. We will continue to keep our residents’ needs front and center as we work with developers who are committed to meeting these standards.”

Join us to learn how our municipalities can manage the data center boom and protect our quality of life. Please register at https://tinyurl.com/SierraDataC or https://act.sierraclub.org/events/details?formcampaignid=701Po00001hQG6IIAW to attend in person or to get the Zoom link.
