The widespread storm with high winds that moved through the Midwest Monday and left debris, destruction, and devastation in its wake, included uprooted trees that fell into power lines, such as in Yorkville. The uprooted tree helped pull up a section of a sidewalk, lower, right, in front of house in a residential area near the intersection of State Route 47 and Main Street. Power outages, including in Yorkville, were reported. The storm came in from Iowa and went into Indiana at reduced speeds. Some reports in northern Illinois were for wind gusts at close to 80 miles per hour. Weather reports warned in advance of the conditions. Swirling winds in the clouds were observed, and more than 10 tornadoes have been confirmed. Mark Krueger/The Voice
