‘Surviving Home’ at the St. Charles Veterans Center

Members of the audience start with refreshments Saturday afternoon prior to a community screening of the documentary film, “Surviving Home”, at the St. Charles Veterans Center, 311 N. 2nd Street, Unit 109, St. Charles. The topic is the intimate documentary that follows four U.S. military veterans from various generations over an eight-year span during which veterans rebuild their lives after the war experience. The paths of the veterans are unique and tell a story often suppressed by returning veterans. Their paths are interwoven with veterans’ voices from across the United States. Second from right is Matthew Moul, director/producer/editor, along with his wife, Jillian Moul. Each is an Emmy Award nominee, and Matthew is an Emmy Award recipient. His paternal grandfather was killed on the USS Franklin aircraft carrier March 19, 1945 along with 800 other men. Five subsequent screenings will be out of state. There are four organizations which meet in the St. Charles Veterans Center.
