Steve Lord, journalist with The Beacon-News in Aurora, discusses the life and passion of The Fox (Jim Phillips), the incognito environmentalist who used guerrilla activist tactics to try to save the Fox River area. He became nationally known as the Fox, but his true identity wasn’t known until after his death. Beginning in the late 1970s, Phillips was a field inspector for the Kane County Environmental Department and retired in January 1986 to start the Fox River Conservation Foundation. The group Friends of the Fox was named for him. Aurora Public Library was host. The event was held in Aurora at Richard and Gina Santori Public Library of Aurora.
