Melissa Mercado, representative from the Fox Valley Music Foundation (FVMF), shares information about The Venue, a new music performance space in Aurora, to Kiwanis members Tuesday at the Kiwanis Club of Aurora at the Prisco Center in Aurora. She said the building at 19-21 South Broadway in downtown Aurora is being renovated with plans to open in late Fall, and a worse-case scenario in the beginning of 2019. The Venue is a space designed to provide live music programs and events for music enthusiasts next to Mundy Park and the recently-renovated Water Street Mall. FVMF received a $125,000 redevelopment grant from the city government of Aurora. The FVMF, formed in 2014, is a not-for-profit organization comprised of music lovers, music educators, and arts enthusiasts. FVMF was created to preserve, promote, and protect, the music of the Fox Valley, while providing music education to individuals of all ages and from all walks of life. The initial spark for the forming of the Foundation was rooted in the annual Blues On The Fox Festival which takes place in downtown Aurora during June.
