The Venue, the 200-seat music performance space in Aurora, owned and operated by the Fox Valley Music Foundation, is directly affected by the recent order by Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker to temporarily close bars and restaurants with a capacity of more than 100.

Unfortunately, due to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation, the Board of Directors of the Fox Valley Music Foundation has voted to suspend performances at The Venue through the end of March. We are striving to keep our patrons informed and provide them with accurate information. Due to the indefinite nature of the COVID-19 situation we will continue to reevaluate and adapt on a week by week basis. We will post updates regarding our status at themusicvenue.org.

“Our greatest concern is the safety of our staff, musical performers, and patrons of The Venue,” stated Dave Glynn, president of the Fox Valley Music Foundation. “We recognize that local and touring musical artists rely on places like The Venue for their livelihood. We also know that our growing audience will greatly miss the live music. We hope to resume musical programming as soon as possible.

“Our goal is to reschedule performances as much as possible. We are working closely with artists and agents to make that possible,” Glynn said. “We will be working to provide some creative virtual music experiences in the very near future to offer from our website and social media to keep the music coming during this difficult time,” Glynn said.

Ticket-buyers for The Venue who have purchased tickets for performances through March 31 will be notified directly about refunds and exchanges.

Adjacent to Mundy Park in downtown Aurora, The Venue was created and built by the Fox Valley Music Foundation with help from the city government of Aurora, Invest Aurora, the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley, the Dunham Foundation, and private donors. More information about The Venue can be found at themusicvenue.org.
