You know the average Leprechaun is small;
The average just above your knee is all.
In every other aspect though you’d see
They are like us in their anatomy.
There are some differences, like pointed ears,
But nothing obvious, so it appears.
Their craftiness and penchant to connive
Have been their lot in order to survive;
They cannot fly, but it would seem they can–
They leap and run like an Olympic man.
It seems they may have been here before us;
At least, that’s something that we can discuss.
The evidence for that is in our name—
And be the wee people’s claim to fame.
They simply called us “huge-man” when they first
Ran into us—their “wee” title reversed.
That soon evolved into “human” the term
Describing us, which to this day stays firm.
St. Patrick and the wee people are one—
This day is yours as well as theirs—have fun!
