Poem: This Memorial Day

Share this article:

Memorial Day will have its way, a day in which we pause;
To honor fallen heroes, who answered freedom’s cause.
But, more than that, the day itself, the day we set aside,
Designed to give us opportunity to show our pride.

This day is just as meaningful as any we proclaim,
Our reverence in honoring is made in freedom’s name.
No fife and drum or waving flag is needed to convey
The reverence and honor meant for this most solemn day.

But over and above all that, your patriotic verve
Is front and center, right about, to echo stand and serve.
May this and every Memorial Day see constant cadence count,
With homage honestly displayed, and patriotism mount.
