Thoughts include MAGA/Orange to science

Are we all overjoyed and ecstatic now that our beloved Fearless Orange-Faced Supreme Leader has been restored to his rightful place in the White House as head of our country? I haven’t seen any fireworks, or dancing in the streets because of the great election turnover that took place on, appropriately, Friday the 13th. I guess I missed it. I must have been engrossed in not paying attention. I did mistakenly write last time that the triumphant return of No. 45 would occur August 19, but that was before I was aware of the My Pillow Guy’s 37 terabytes of electronic evidence of voter fraud from China meddling in the 2020 election.

Does he even know how much 37 terabytes of pure text is? It’s equal to one million million bytes. To put it in simpler terms, its one terabyte less that the number of E-mail I still have clogging up my computer. All those terabytes of evidence turned out to be copies of Chinese restaurant menus written by a couple of Asian teenagers on crack. Mr. Pillow never got through the 37 terabytes to the last line written in English that read, “Stupid American dog.” But at least he had the wherewithal to do immediately what any Trumper and supporter of the Big Lie would do: Blame it on CIA interference.

I must put in good word here for The Voice. A few editions back, a concerned reader from Oswego wrote in, upset with The Voice for publishing Chas Coddington’s “far left, liberal, ‘dribble.’” Not to be picky, even though I am, I think he meant Chas Coddington’s “far left, liberal ‘drivel.’” It is unfair. The Voice has been reasonable and balanced in publishing drivel from all political points of view. Apparently this Oswego reader overlooked the far right, Trump-based, drivel from Bela “Bill” Suhayda, which shows up on a fairly regular basis in Reader’s Commentary on page 4, or the independent drivel that I write and which you’re reading right now, that is solely based on how much alcohol I consumed the previous night.

I will say it’s difficult to remain in the middle of the road in this supposed post-Trump era while clueless MAGAs are still sending him money, $82 million so far. Trump said recently that if he were president, the Taliban wouldn’t be taking over Afghanistan. Remember when he said when he got elected he’d eliminate Isis in a week? Saying and doing are two different things. Why is it so difficult for MAGAs to recognize a conman when they see one? Personally, I could list about 37 terabytes worth of reasons, but I don’t wish to irritate any readers more than I already have. Wouldn’t it be nice if those millions of dollars went to a children’s hospital, or our wounded warriors, or, an environmental organization, or an animal rescue charity rather than into a fat conman’s pocket? To repeat what a coworker said to me years ago: “You can never underestimate the gullibility of the American people.”

I don’t have any intention of getting into an on-going back-and-forth, he-said/I-said with any of The Voice readers, (Mr. Suhayda being one, so I will close with the following:

• Trump lost the election. He will not be reinstated. I said previously that monkeys would fly out of my butt before that happened. So far it appears I’m safe, but I’ll continue to wear my chainmail jockey shorts just in case.

• Climate change is real and happening. Although not completely caused by human-types and their fossil-fuel pollution, it was certainly the major contributing factor in bringing the change upon us sooner, rather than later.

• Elvis is dead.

• The COVID virus is real and surging. The reason it’s spreading and mutating and soon will have us locked down once again, is that too many individuals will not get vaccinated, or wear masks. When I was growing up, a large portion of the public wasn’t as clueless, which is why smallpox and polio were eradicated. Do you anti-maskers realize that members of our military are willing to sacrifice their lives and their freedom to fight in foreign countries to protect other people while you can’t infringe on your freedom (what a joke) to put on a mask in public places for a couple hours a day to protect children and susceptible others right here at home?

As former GOP governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said a few days ago while speaking of the spreading virus, “Screw your freedom!”

• The Earth isn’t flat. If it were, cats would have pushed everything off of it by now.

• Science is true, whether you believe it or not.

Simple facts all, if you stop at the first period and eliminate my editorial comments that follow. I needed something to fill up the space.
