State representative Stephanie Kifowit (D-Oswego 84th District) encourages residents to donate new toys for children in the community by participating in the annual Toys for Tots toy drive. A donation collection box is again placed at Kifowit’s District office, 1677 Montgomery Road, Suite 116 in Aurora.

“The residents of the 84th District have shown time and time again that they care about making sure each child has a gift for the holidays by their generosity,” Kifowit said.

The popular Toys for Tots program, which began in 1947, is run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve units and distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas, with the goal to help bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to America’s most vulnerable children and families.

“This year the need is so much greater as many parents are struggling with decreased or lack of income due to the economic impact of COVID,” said Kifowit.

State representative Kifowit will collect new, unwrapped toys, but no stuffed animals, and donations of gift cards to buy toys in the Toys for Tots collection box in her District office. Donations will be accepted during office hours Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The deadline to donate toys is Tuesday, Dec. 8.

For those unable to make donations during office hours, due to COVID-19 and require someone to coordinate to pick up toys, or would like additional information, please contact the district office at 630-585-1308, or send E-mail to Stephanie.Kifowit@att.net.
