The Valley of the Fox Sierra Club will feature a guided hiking tour by Jay Womack, at 7 p.m. Monday, June 18. Womack will show the restoration work being completed at the Fabyan Forest Preserve in Geneva. Womack coordinates the volunteers and work program for the Fabyan restoration.
He is a landscape architect with Huff & Huff, his design philosophy is rooted in a lifelong affinity for the ecosystems of the Midwest and in the belief that we need to be connected to the environment, a philosophy closely aligned with Aldo Leopold’s “Land Ethic” and E.O. Wilson’s “Biophilic” theory. He is passionate about the environment connecting individuals to nature and being a steward to the next generation of naturalists. Those attending can see what Womack and his troop of dedicated volunteers have accomplished, so far.
Participants will meet at 7 p.m. at Shelter No.4 which is on the east side of Route 25, just north of Fabyan Parkway in Geneva. Participants will need to sign a waiver before beginning the hiking portion of the meeting. For details, visit www.sierra
