“Viking Women” will open a Geneva History Museum lecture series highlighting Viking history, culture, and contributions.
The public is invited to the series at the Museum 113 S. Third Street in Geneva.
The series’ schedule will include:
• March 14: Viking Women, a brown bag program celebrating Women’s History Month, noon, by Naperville resident Dave Nordin, vice president, Friends of the Viking Ship.
• April 11: Viking Cuisine, a brown bag program, noon, by Nordin.
• May 9: History of Geneva High School’s Vikings student athletes and the Viking mascot, a brown bag program, noon, by Museum educator Heidi Howlett.
• June 17: Little Vikings, a children’s exhibit through August 19.
The series is a companion to “Viking’s Voyage: A 19th Century Ship’s Journey from Norway to Illinois,” a Museum exhibit thru December 23.
The exhibit is in collaboration with Friends of the Viking Ship, a St. Charles-based nonprofit that maintains the 1893 Viking replica ship at Good Templar Park, 528 East Side Drive in Geneva.
Museum admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children ages 3-10, seniors 65+ and students; free Tuesdays for veterans, active military and museum members.
Included is the Museum main gallery, “Geneva’s Story.”
Gallery visitors will receive a coupon for $2 off a tour of the Viking Ship under a canopy at Good Templar Park in in Geneva.
Those who tour the ship will receive a coupon for $1 off museum admission.
