Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley were informed of the Visiting Nurses Association’s efforts to help their diabetic patients at the Club’s monthly meeting, Thursday, April 13, at the historic Gray’s Mill Estate, in Montgomery.
Community liaison, Elisa Lara, RN, from the Visiting Nurses Association, spoke about the VNA’s Diabetes Educational Center, complete with a operating kitchen, where their diabetic patients learn to cook healthy meals to control their diabetes. She stressed the importance of diet and exercise and taught those in attendance some simple breathing and exercising techniques to improve our health.
The newly-formed Diabetes Club of Fox Valley is getting acquainted with various organizations in the Fox Valley area, who provide services to diabetics, to see how we can be of help.
The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization, a true grassroots organization, where all money raised through dues, donations, and fundraising is used locally within the Fox Valley area, to support the Club’s diabetic causes. The members meet monthly on the second Thursday of each month at the historic Gray’s Mill Estate.
Thanks to The Voice for supporting our Club in publications, two individuals joined our club at our April meeting.
