The Voluntary Action Center (VAC) of DeKalb County, operators of the Kendall Area Transit program, recently hired Barb Nadeau of Plano as external affairs manager.
Providing high quality services to address basic transportation and nutrition needs in the communities of DeKalb, Kendall, LaSalle, Putman and Bureau Counties, VAC depends on social engagement and outreach to fulfill its mission. The new external affairs manager position will concentrate on strategic planning, government and community relations, local funding, awareness campaigns, and volunteer engagement.
Nadeau comes to The Voluntary Action Center after more than four years working with Senior Services Associates, Inc. of Kane, Kendall, and McHenry Counties, coordinating the national Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, as well as the Volunteer Transportation Program for Southern Kane and Kendall Counties. In addition, she served as the Master Trainer for the evidence-based A Matter of Balance Course.She writes a column, Seniors’ Voice, one each month for The Voice.
