The Just Food Initiative of the Fox Valley, based in Batavia, recently received approval from Saint Olaf Lutheran Church in Montgomery to be partners in the first Just Food Farmers’ Market in Southeast Aurora. The area is a food desert that few in the Aurora leadership evidently recognize, or, evidently care to address. We do and are doing something.

We at Just Food want members in many church congregations who know how to cook and bake healthy food to be discovered. We want those of you who are willing to help to be featured as part of the new and exciting Just Food Farmers Market in southeast Aurora beginning in June

We seek to bring many items to the first Just Food Farmers’ Market such as: Breads, with no white, or, even wheat flour, no phony ingredients, tortillas made from ancient einkorn, instead of from inflammation-causing flours in many supermarkets, soups with no grease, but, with many fresh vegetables, real, not process cheese, pastas made from chickpea, almond, other alternative flours, sausages with no hormones or antibiotics in meats, no grain-fed meats, satisfying treats for youngsters and teens which have no sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, gluten-free bakery made from healthier ingredients than potato starch and guar gum, salad dressings with no palm oil, GMO (genetically-modified organisms) soy, canola, corn oil, cookies and muffins sweetened with honey or molasses, not white or brown sugar, and so on and so on….

We want everything clean and green. The possibilities are endless, yet, many remain hidden and not discovered.

This new market will feature the healthiest, tastiest fare we can find n the Fox Valley area. Our residents do not need any more donuts, sodas, fries, and other such real non-foods that are making our most vulnerable citizens sick and obese.

Just Foods promotes alternatives.

If you have a special recipe for something tasty and healthy, you should not be hidden. We’d like to chat with you and hear about what food speciality you create.

Your church may want to set up your own booth at the new, healthy Farmers Market which will be on the second Sundays of June, July, August, and September. Or, you may prefer to join with other church ladies and men. Either way, the community needs you!
