Poem: Without Someone, Something, To Do It For

Share this article:

If you compete in any sport, with all your skills to use,
If you compete just for yourself, most likely you will lose.
A transcendental impetus, when knowing others care,
Will oft determine just how well you do, and with them share.
In competition where it’s only you against the field,
You may think you are all alone, but that is your mistake.
Without someone to do it for, to whom your senses yield,
There is less thrill in winning, ere whatever pose you take.
This need to have someone to do it for is not just sports;
It takes in every facet of your life, what you achieve;
So everything said here, the premise and the theme it courts,
Should be familiar, nothing new, and easy to believe.
