The check for $1,031.00 from the Club’s membership was presented at the Woman’s Club of Aurora membership meeting October 13 at Orchard Valley Club. Funds were earned from a mum sale earlier in October and from members’ donations. Brian Failing, director of Aurora Regional Fire Museum, presented a program on the 1871 Great Chicago Fire in recognition of Fire Prevention Month. The November 10 program will be given by Susan Fahling, a retired U.S. Navy veteran, an active volunteer at the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans in Wheaton. The Midwest Shelter, a non-profit agency, was founded in 2007 and seeks to provide housing, supportive services, and community outreach to help homeless and at-risk veterans achieve self-sufficiency.
