WWII Backman memorial Monday

There will be a short prayer service for Pearl Harbor casualty Walter H. Backman at Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Place in Aurora at 1 p.m. Memorial Day, Monday, May 28. Click here for more information.
At 1:30 p.m. a memorial procession will leave Healy Chapel go west on Downer Place, north on Highland Avenue, east on Sullivan Road, and finally north on Illinois Route 25 to the Cemetery River Hills Memorial Park in Batavia at approximately 2 p.m..
The U.S. Navy will conduct the memorial service with Rear Admiral Carol Lynch presiding and will include a seven-member honor detail.
Parking will be available at River Hills Memorial Park. Overflow parking has been arranged with VFW Post 1197, 645 South River Street in Batavia, north of River Hills Memorial Park.
A 25-passenger shuttle will provide transportation starting at 1 p.m. from the Batavia VFW Post 1197 to River Hills Memorial Park and back to end at 4 p.m..
