Aurora City Council: Wayside Cross Ministries, two new Boy Scout troops

Reverend Peggy Hicks was one of 11 speakers at the Aurora City Council meeting Tuesday asking the City to reconsider violation notices given to 19 child sex offenders residing at Wayside Cross Ministries in downtown Aurora. The notices state they must relocate to a compliant residence by January 15, 2020. They are not allowed to live within 500 feet of a park where children commonly play. Many stated the offenders have served their time and punishment and Wayside Cross has helped rehabilitate them.
Approved was an ordinance establishing the rate of the municipal natural gas use tax in the City of Aurora from 3¢ per therm to 5¢ per therm in the City’s Municipal Gas Use Tax. Dissenting votes were from aldermen Llamas, Smith, and Lofchie. Jason Crane/The Voice
