Activities abound; Veterans Park in Oswego to break ground

It is the season to be blessed with many activities:

• A busy day in many communities will be Saturday, April 13, including Oswego, which will hold an Earth Day Kite Fly, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Prairie Pointe Park; Oswego East Food Truck Feast, and Veterans Serenity Park will break ground at 11 a.m. along Adams near downtown and near State Route 25.

• First call, but close to deadline: The Aurora city government seeks nominations for grand marshals for Memorial Day and Fourth of July parades. Deadline for nominations is 5 p.m. Friday, April 19.

The Greater Aurora Area Chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby will meet at Oswego Presbyterian Church at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16.

• Easter egg hunts listings by many churches and communities are included on pages 4 and 18.

• Aurora Navy League Council 247 will meet Tuesday, 7 p.m. at Grandma’s Table in Montgomery.

• Marmion Academy Flannigan Rifles Drill Team won the Armed Division at the 2019 Army Drill Team Championships March 30 in Richmond, Va.. High school championships will be May 3 in Daytona, Fla..

• Newly-elected Aurora First Ward alderman Emmanuel Llamas, 32, is a graduate of Boys II Men and a 2017 Phenomenal Man of the Year.

• For Lent from Fasting and Feasting: Fast from bitterness and feast on forgiveness.
