The annual Diwali Festival sponsored by Aurora’s Indian American Community Outreach Advisory Board at Waubonsie Valley High School Saturday includes colorful costumes and dance routines. More than 5,000 individuals attend annually and enjoy a diversity of Indian music, dance, clothing, and cuisine. Originally a celebration of the Hindu religion, a more secular version has evolved. Scholarships were awarded. Earlier in the day a Diwali celebration was held a few blocks away at the Eola Road Branch Library.
