An Aurora man faces multiple felony charges for illegally possessing several guns and a variety of narcotics.
Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon has charged 27-year-old Isaac T. Echols with the offenses of:
- Unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, Class X felony, 3 counts
- Unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, Class 2 felony, 7 counts
- Unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, Class 3 felony
- Unlawful possession of a firearm without a FOID card, Class 3 felony
- Unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, Class 3 felony
Kane County prosecutors allege in charging documents that on Nov. 7, 2018, Aurora police, while at a residence in the 1300 block of Solfisburg Avenue, found multiple items of contraband they allege belong to Echols, including more than 400 grams of cocaine he intended to deliver to another, more than 100 grams of heroin he intended to deliver to another, more than 15 MDMA (ecstasy) pills he intended to deliver to another, six handguns, an AR 15 rifle and ammunition that he was prohibited from possessing, more than 30 grams of marijuana he intended to deliver to another, and 79 alprazolam pills.
Echols’ next court appearance is set for 9 a.m. Nov. 21, 2018, in front of Circuit Judge Donald M. Tegeler, Jr., in Courtroom 311 at the Kane County Judicial Center. Echols remains in the Kane County jail in lieu of $200,000 bail with 10 percent ($20,000) to apply for bond. If Echols posts bond, he must prove to the court that the source of the bond money is lawful.
The charges against Echols are not proof of guilt. Echols is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the state’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
