Aurora Navy League dinner Tuesday, Feb. 20

The Aurora Navy League Council 247 will hold its Tuesday, Feb. 20 dinner meeting at the private room of the Riverview Diner, IL-25 and Mill St, Montgomery.

A reception will begin promptly at 5 p.m. followed by a meeting at 5:30 p.m. with dinner afterward. The cost is $25 all-inclusive if an entree is ordered, or $20 for the dinner salad featured that evening. Free entry without food. The meeting will conclude no later than 8 p.m..

You do not need to be a member of the Navy League, or have a reservation, to attend the in-person meeting, the general public is welcome.

The after dinner speaker will be Kendall County States Attorney Eric Weis whose topic is: How New Illinois Criminal Laws Effect Prosecutors and You. These new laws, including the SAFE-T Act, have both positive and negative effects, both will be discussed, and the impact on you and your Safe-T will be highlighted.

Eric Weis was elected as State’s Attorney for Kendall County in November of 2006. Prior to being elected, Eric served as the First Assistant State’s Attorney, since 2002. During that time, Eric served as the chief felony prosecutor for major violent and drug related offenses which occurred in Kendall County. Eric began his legal career with the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office in 1995 and was sworn in as an assistant state’s attorney in 1997. Eric was admitted to the Illinois Bar as well as the Federal Bar in 1997 after graduating with honors from Northern Illinois University College of Law.
